Measuring your runs

Sunday, April 1st, 2007

Have you ever wanted to plot a course for a run but wanted it a little more exact than driving your car using your odometer? If so, this is the site for you.

It uses Google maps, and you can plot an exact course using waypoints to measure out an exact course. I just did it for a 5K course on Bayshore.

CrossFit success

Wednesday, February 14th, 2007

If you are curious about if CrossFit works, here is a boast and a testimonial:

I entered the base pull-up contest today.  Two months ago, I could do about 13 pull-ups (not bad).  Today, I won the competition out of 20+ Marines (the most fanatical pull-up advocates I know), Army, Navy, and Air Force guys by doing 26 pull-ups, tying the base record.

All that in just a couple months on the program.   Thanks CrossFit.

Crossfit

I have been lifting weights since I was 15. It has been a way of life for me for so long that I get grumpy when I go more than a few days without working out.

My workouts have progressed over the years, as I learned more. I have an insatiable thirst for knowledge about fitness. Over the last few years, I have learned and practiced more and more functional fitness. Then a few months ago, a co-worker of mine introduced me to CrossFit. CrossFit is the summation of all that I had studied, tested, and experienced. In other words, these great people had it all figured out. I have been training using their workouts and philosophy since learning about it. Like many other CrossFitters, it has become my religion.

Expect to see me write about it a lot more on here. For now, I want all of you to check out the website. CrossFit acolytes are police, fire, special forces, ultimate fighters, and even housewives. Using their training methods, people are finding heretofore unknown gains in strength, endurance, and overall fitness. Their results are phenomenal. Check it out. It is on my links on the right.

Best of all? It is all free.

I get paid to do this

Can you believe they pay me to do this? It is only $150/month, but still, lucky me.
